metric is better
Like my country uses the metricsystem but I would still not know which one is a liter and how much is a meter
That's why Americans aren't that smart
Metric the one and only what is imperial something from the universe and who uses this lol
TENS and "HUNDOS" should NOT be used.
The "metric System" (SI) is "Better by a Thousand".
Please (please) see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d3gAZ-Te3Y&t=405s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lshRAPvPZY&t=446s should also be of interest, as should http://www.metricationmatters.com/docs/CostOfNonMetrication.pdf
Water freeze at 0 C°
Lowest temperature Gabriel Fahrenheit could measure in the laboratory was 0 F°
Do you really need more ?
Fun fact, since 1959 the yard is defined as exactly 0.9144 meters and the pound as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms
This makes me think I'm smarter then I already am
We have to excuse them. They live far away from people who use the metric system. Like thousands of kilos away.
"INSTEAD OF MILES THERE IS KILOS" WOW.!!!
My mom learned the metric system when she went to high school in the 70s. Apparently they were planning on dumping the imperial system but eventually decided to stick with it.
If the shoe was ont the other (0.3048 m), most of us who are used to the metric system wouldnt be so precise either, just sayin' 🙂 So yeah, the imperial unites have outlive their practicality, but I seriously don't get any of those cringe comments here.
He only reason they won't change is:
They want to be different to everyone else because self-proclaimed they are the best in the world
Why do I think I have seen the guy with the red t-shirt before? 0:01
Yes it is a huge improvement. And if the US Is so worried about money, do what we did in the UK.. We left all speed limit signs as MPH and distance in miles, but we measure in the metric system. Use both, but schools only teach metric. The US they are scared about how much it will cost, but they dont think about their citizens that the metric will be ALOT EASIER for students to learn and to use, but again the US goverment only is like its gonna cost too much
American native
Muricans always using terms like 4k without even realizing that k means kilo- or thousand because metrics..
As a European in my opinion the imperial system is crap please don’t get mad and start writing whole paragraphs
Okay hear me out on this one but It wouldn't be that hard to change, think about it, the UK uses a combination of the metric system and imperial system where it works both ways which tbh I think would be a hell of a lot easier than to change completely. For distance and road signs in the UK are measured in miles, however, on the hard shoulder on motorways/highways, reference points are measured in kilometers for an accurate location if one was to break down. We still use inches for shoe sizes a lot like the US (I honestly don't know why), volume for a liquid is a mix of both, small measurements are in millimeters and large measurements are in pints and gallons. For measuring mass, we use grams and kilograms for small measurements, and then only for large measurements do we use stone and tonnes (because it's just easier to think about).
imperial system's a colossal headache. idiotic, primitive, backwards yanks, what a bunch of imbeciles.
Convince the complete US weapons industry to go metric… and voila…
Problem solved.
They know the size of 9mm already. Now we should tell them that's the diameter.
Americans got angry at British at some point. "No we are not using new French units. We will continue using deprecated British units!"
How do you get confused by the fact that feet is smaller than metre and mile is bigger that kilometer…
theyre never gonna use it when they cant even spell metre or litre correctly
The one underrated advantage of the metric system is the relationship between length measures and capacity and even WEIGHT to a certain extent – like how one cubic metre is a litre – and THEN how a litre of water weights one kilogram – it all just makes sense. The way WATER is used as a basis as well – boiling point, 100 degrees – freezing point – zero. I mean it's perfect! That Imperial system just seems like a jumbled mess in comparison. The only issue with the metric system for me is THE NAMES. Saying "a mile" is so much easier that "a kilometre" – when have you ever herd a song singing about KILOMETRES! Call them KLOMS or something, maybe then the Americans will be more interested.
0 degrees C water freezes, at 100 degrees C water boils, kind of simple, like a base 10 measurement system.
As a person who was born to Metric and learned the Imperial(american).
I'd like to say i like the Imperial system better.
Well isn't kinda unfair asking Americans to have an intuition on metric units?
But if you ask them to convert yards to miles and meters to kilometers then even if you're not familiar with the system it's still easier.
Using miles and gallons is alright. But calculating mileage by the gallons is f*cked. X miles / gallons? what does that even mean… X liters/100 km, now that means something…
Metric system is way easier. Americans have feet, gallons, cups, it’s so confusing. Not every cup/foot/gallon is the same size so why do u use it to measure things. Also, Celsius is way easier, 0 is freezing point and 100 is boiling point (for water)
I’m SO confused omg the way they think makes no sense to me.
plot twist: All measurements on US imperial system is actually based on the metric system.
Inch is approximately the width of your thumb. The foot is what it sounds like
The metric system is just factually better
As an American, I actually understand metric and wouldn't mind if the country were to convert.
if the guy on the left on 0:22 was a female he would be an aunt that when he sees a child he would go Hi i didnt see you in a long time!!!!
Americans Discover Normal System That Is In ALL Countries Except For America And UK
Yes miles are kilos, we calculate our distance by weight!
I have just learned that the imerial system has no physical reference point for a pound and is based on the ur kilo instead.
I literally just found out that Americans don’t use the metric system…HOW!?!?
It’s a breeze to learn the metric system, because it’s literally designed to be easy.
The real question is why we in the rest of the world still use inches for TVs and car wheels?
These buzzfeed videos are too short.
When they asked to identify the 1 liter bottle, they should have said that 1 liter = 10cm x 10cm x 10 cm
That would blow their minds
"There are 4 cm in an inch, sort of…" oh my fucking @#
USA legally recognize the use of the metric system since 1866. Why haven’t fully switched yet ? Because money, laziness, lobbying and patriotism. The four pillars of American society.
What about living an easier life? Nooo! I am Merican!
Erm i use centimeters but i cant estimate anything
title should be changed to adults do basic math
I'm from the UK and and at the age where at school measurements changed over. So I can work in all of them depending on who I'm talking too. Plus it's not hard to work in all of them… Give it a go america 😉😉😉😉
